ZD FRCN ENUGU, POLICE COMMISSIONER CLINCH SOCIETY SERVICE AWARD

Nigerians have been advised to embrace virtues that promote oneness, irrespective of tribe or geographical divide as a way of encouraging national unity.

A former Accountant General of Enugu State, Professor Paschal Okolie, made the call during an award ceremony organized by Indigenous People of Anambra State resident in Enugu.

The event, which attracted participants from different parts of the country, centered on the need to appreciate hard work and outstanding contributions of the awardees selected from different walks of life to societal development.

Notable among them is the Zonal Director, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) Mr. Ikechukwu Eze, who was nominated following his track record of achievements within the short period he assumed duty as the Zonal Director, FRCN Enugu National Station.

Receiving the award, Mr. Eze, who said he felt highly honored with the prestigious Society Service Award, pledged more commitment to taking FRCN Enugu National Station to greater heights.

Other recipients, included the Enugu State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Kanayo Uzuegbu, the Senator representing Enugu West Senatorial District, Senator Osita Ngwu, a veteran Journalist Chief Odogwu Odoemena, while a Posthumous award was given to the Enugu East Senatorial Candidate of Labour Party, Oyibo Chukwu, who died during electioneering.

Highlighting some of the objectives of the association, the Co Founder and Chairman of the event action committee, Mazi Omeife Omeife, said the award aimed at motivating the receiptants to doing more selfless service for humanity.

Mazi Omeife said the association also contributes to poverty alleviation through provision of empowerment programs for youths.

The colorful event attracted personalities from within and outside Enugu who were entertained by various cultural displays.
