VOTER APATHY, VOTE BUYING MAR POLLS IN ONITSHA.

Voting in Onitsha, the biggest commercial hub in Anambra State, witnessed voter apathy as fewer eligible voters cast their ballots for state House of Assembly election.

The exercise, which was very peaceful, also had security operative to ensure compliance with election guidelines at the various polling booths.

The election commenced at exactly 8:00am in all polling units in Onitsha North Local Government Area of the state.

The early commencement showed an improvement over the presidential election that commenced late in the area.

Some polling units visited included Ward 1, New American Quarters; Unit 010, GRA Ward 2; unit 017, Ado Girls Ward 8; unit 014, Ward 7 Ogboli primary School; unit 008.

Voting buying with POS was observed in some units while party agents were also seen dragging and convincing people to vote for their parties.

In all, the exercise was generally peaceful.
