INEC ISSUES CERTIFICATE OF RETURN TO 23 IMO ASSEMBLY MEMBERS-ELECT, 4 OUTSTANDING

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has issued Certificates of Return to twenty-three elected members of the Imo State House of Assembly.

Four constituencies are yet to be issued the certificates to make up the 27-seat-parliament.

Ahiazu Mbaise, Isu, Ideato North and South Constituencies appear to be pending due to contentious issues surrounding the March 18 House of Assembly election in Imo State.

At the brief ceremony in Owerri, the Administrative Secretary of INEC in the State, Mr. Jude Okwuonu, explained that the exercise was in line with the statutory obligation of the commission to issue certificates to winners of elections within two weeks of the polls.

The exercise was a one party affair as all the 23 persons that received certificates of return were sponsored by the All Progressives Congress (APC)
