SOLUDO SIGNS N410.13 BN 2024 ANAMBRA BUDGET INTO LAW

Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has assented the state’s 2024 budget of N410,132,225,272 into law.

The appropriation bill was signed after one month it was presented to the state House of Assembly for consideration.

Professor Soludo while signing the bill christened “Changing Gears: The Transformation Agenda Begins” at his home town in Isuofia, Aguata Local Government Area, said “the bill prioritizes the five cardinal pillars of his administration with major concentration on infrastructure and human capital development.”

The budget which has a capital expenditure of N313.9 billion naira representing 76.54% of the budget proposal while the recurrent expenditure of N96.2 billion naira accounts for 23.46% of the budget estimate, amounting to about 57.8% increase from the 2023 budget.

The Governor emphasized the imperativeness of addressing the socio-economic needs by investing in vital projects like the three new cities, including the Awka 2.0, and Onitsha 2.0.

The Governor, while thanking the House of Assembly, represented by the Speaker, Dr. Somtochukwu Udeze, and House Committee Chairman on Finance and Appropriation, Mr. Ejike Okechukwu, for the expeditious passage of the 2024 appropriation bill, noted that the budget would usher the state into a glorious future.

The Governor equally extolled stakeholders, including members of the Executive Council, civil society organizations, non-governmental organizations, and the general public for their valuable input in making the budget assent a reality.

The Governor also signed into law, the bill that repealed the Anambra State Publishing, Newspaper Printing Corporation called National Light.
