NDE COMMUNITY BASED TRAINING SCHEME: 34 PERSONS RECEIVE STARTER PARKS IN ABIA

The Coordinator, National Directorate of Employment (NDE) Abia State, Mrs. Tessy Wachukwu, says the Directorate has, in the last six months of 2023, trained 85 youths in various skills acquisition in the state.

Mrs. Wachukwu made this known during the disbursement of Starter packs to Community Based Training Scheme Graduates under the Vocational Skills Development Department of the agency in Umuahia.

She said that of the 85 youths that were trained, 34 had received starter packs from the agency to support themselves.

Mrs. Wachukwu listed some of the areas where the agency had carried out trainings.

These included computer operations and maintenance, vocational skills, fashion and designing, traditional crafts, electrical installation and barbing.

She urged youths to make use of the opportunities offered by the agency to register with the Directorate and learn a skill, which according to her, is free of charge.

In a message to the occasion, the Director General, National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Mallam Nuhu Fikpo, represented by Mr. Obinna Offiah, said the beneficiaries were selected based on their hardwork and committment during the training.

He urged them to make proper use of the items given to them by the agency.

Some of the beneficiaries, who spoke with Radio Nigeria, expressed happiness for being part of the gesture and appluaded the Federal Government for establishing the agency

Some of the starter packs received by the beneficiaries included sewing machines, gas cooker with ovens, makeup kits and electric pressing Iron.
