ANAMBRA FA PLANS TALENT HUNT

The Anambra State Football Association (FA) is to kick start hunt for grassroots talents within the state.

Chairman of the FA, Mr. Chikelue Iloenyosi, made the revelation while speaking with some sports journalists in Awka on his plans for football lovers in the area.

According to Mr. Iloenyosi, there are lots of ideas and progrmames for grassroots sports in Anambra State, which will kick start with a hunt of talents in the 21 Local Government Areas of the state.

The Ex Super Eagles International said the FA was going to partner the state Sports Development Commission to identify the numerous talents that abound in schools and local communities.

Mr. Iloenyosi, who said he was driven by passion to improve on football history of the state, expressed his resolve to contribute towards ensuring that the Governor Chukwuma Soludo blue print on sports and overall development of the state becomes a reality.

Chikelue Iloenyosi said the football talent hunt, which would start officially on Saturday October 8, 2022, is also aimed at scouting for players that would be able to represent the state in the country’s Under 15, 16, 20 and the Super Eagles teams as was the case before when Anambra used to produce top players for the country.

The FA Chairman, who underscored the importance of grassroots sports to the overall development of the sports sector, revealed that moving forward there would be several tournaments that would be unveiled with aim of keeping the football lovers busy all through the year.

Mr. Iloenyosi said he had also penciled down three ex international players for a coaching training to enable them to transfer their wealth of football knowledge to the younger generation.

The FA Chairman gave an assurance that plans were on to make sure that the Anambra State floated a football team that would represent the State in national and intercontinental competitions.
