ABIA STATE GOVT REGISTERS OVER 150 MSMEs WITH CAC

Over one hundred and fifty Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, MSMEs, in Abia State have benefited from a free registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission in collaboration with the state government.

In a message to the Stakeholders meeting organized by the State Ministry of Digital Economy and SMEs in conjunction with NAFDAC in Aba, Governor Alex Otti said the MSME Sector ha contributed to job creation and poverty alleviation in the state.

Governor Otti, who was represented by his Deputy, Chief Ikechukwu Emetu, noted that the efforts of the ministry had boosted the locally made goods at the International markets and expanded the scope of their operations for overall growth of the state economy.

The Governor described the NAFDAC Stakeholders Meeting as apt, stressing it would cement the relations between the Agency and the entrepreneurs.

It would also cut off impediments that would drive legitimate entrepreneurs out of business.

Earlier, the Director General, National Agency for Food, Drugs and Control, Prof Mojisola Adeyeye, who said a testing laboratory would be built in Abia State to assist the agency in testing sample products, thanked the state government for providing them a space for Office in Aba.

Prof Adeyeye announced that 25 entrepreneurs would benefit from a free registration gesture of the agency with the Corporate Affairs Commission.

Abia State Commissioner for Digital Economy and SMEs, Mr. Matthew Ekwuribe, remarked that the promotion of entrepreneurs had been the priority of this administration which led to the disbursement of grants to business class through the NG-CARES, provision of ICT equipment to the youths amongst other measures to assist them in the state.

Some of the beneficiaries, Elder Success Ogbonna, Mr. Charles Chukwu and Miss Chioma Iwuala, expressed their gratitude to Governor Alex Otti led administration for the free registration.
