TRUCK KILLS SIX IN IMO

SIx persons have lost their lives following a road accident that occurred on Saturday night at the Imo State University Junction, Owerri.

Eye witnesses said an articulated vehicle that was driving against the traffic lost control and rammed into oncoming shuttle buses conveying passengers thereby claiming lives.

While one person allegedly died on the way to a hospital, authorities of the Federal University of Technology Teaching Hospital confirmed five others dead upon arrival to the facility.

A lecturer at the State University was said to be one of the persons that died in the accident.

The Spokesperson for the Imo State Police Command, Mr. Henry Okoye, confirmed the incident and casualty figure, adding that other injured persons were receiving treatment at the hospital.

Some residents, who spoke on the incident, appealed to the state government to take urgent steps towards addressing the persistent road crashes at the ever busy junction.
