NYSC EXTENDS SERVICE YEAR OF 11 CORPS MEMBERS IN EBONYI

REPORTER: AMECHI ODO

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has extended the service year of 11 Corps members deployed to Ebonyi State for their one year mandatory service.

The State Coordinator of the scheme, Mrs. Bamai Mercy, announced this while addressing NYSC 2021 Batch C Stream 1 Corps members who passed out in Abakaliki.

The NYSC State Coordinator noted that one Corps member would repeat his service year due to abscondment while the eleven whose service year was extended were absent in their areas of primary assignment for more than three months.

Mrs. Mercy charged the out-gone Corps members to be good ambassadors of the scheme and avoid acts capable of tarnishing their image and that of their country.

She said the Scheme had exposed the corps members to a number of programmes targeted at providing them with requisite skills to be self-reliant after their service year.

Some of the former Corps member expressed appreciation to the Federal Government for mobilizing them to serve their mother land.

734 corps members passed out in the state and 403 of them were females.
