WORKERS DAY: GOV UZODIMMA TO RESOLVE RIFT WITH WORKERS, ASSURES SECURITY OF LIVES

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State says his administration will continue to accord priority to the welfare of workers and pensioners in the state.
He was speaking during a broadcast to mark the 2021 Workers Day in Owerri.
The Governor thanked the workers for their support and promised to release arrears of check-off –dues owed workers unions in the state within the next few weeks.
Governor Uzodimma also promised to resolve issues of nonpayment of salaries to some workers arising from automation exercise embarked by the government, pointing out that staff training would soon receive a boost.
“As we celebrate this years’ May Day, my assurance to the people of the state and especially our workers is that I will continue to do my best to ensure things get better for all of us,” Governor Uzodimma said.
On security challenges facing the state, the Governor reassured residents of their safety, noting that his administration would stop at nothing to protect lives and property.
Governor Uzodimma explained that adequate steps had been taken to forestall further security breaches in the state.
He said he would use all lawful means to deal with those behind the recent attacks in his country house in Omuma Oru East Local Government Area and the state at large.
“Without any fear of contradiction I can declare to you that the recent security challenges in the state have been contained, Imo people should therefore go about their lawful businesses without any fear whatsoever,” Governor Uzodimma assured.
The Governor, who enumerated some of achievements recorded by his administration, gave an assurance that no amount of distraction would dissuade him from developing the state.
