USE EID-EL-FITR: CHIEF IMAM APPEALS FOR PEACEFUL COEXISTENCE

Muslim faithful have been urged to use the period of Eid-el-fitr to pray for the peace and unity of the country as the nation battles insecurity challenges bedeviling it.

The Chief Imam, Umuahia Central Mosque, Alhaji Umar Lawan, stated this shortly after the Eid prayer at Umuahia Township Stadium.

The Chief Imam, who spoke with the help of an interpreter, called for peaceful co-existence amongst people, irrespective of religious differences.

He urged the faithful to always put into practice all the lessons they have learnt during the Ramadan period.

The Chairman, Nigeria Supreme council for Islamic Affairs, Abia State, Alhaji Suleiman Ukandu, while congratulating Muslim faithful for a successful Ramadan fast, called for justice, fairness and equity in the country.

Also, the Sarikin Hauswa of Abia State, Alhaji Yaro Danladi, urged Muslims to use the period of Eid el fitr to show love to one another as well as give alms to the needy in the society.

Over one thousand faithful participated in the Eid prayer.
