ONE SHOT DEAD AS GUNMEN ATTACK UWANA DIVISIONAL POLICE STATION, EBONYI

A police man has been shot dead while two others sustained various degrees of injury as suspected hoodlums attacked Unwana Divisional Headquarters in Afikpo North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State with AK 47 rifles.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the State, Mrs. Loveth Oda, explained that the gunmen, who were about thirty-five in number, carried out the attack in the early morning of Sunday.

She noted that one of the hoodlums was gunned down following a gun duel between them and the police.

According to Mrs. Odah, two AK 47 rifles were recovered from some of the gunmen who also escaped with bullet wounds.

She explained that one of the recovered AK 47 rifles was stolen during a recent attack on Ohaukwu Divisional Police Station while the hoodlum who was gunned down had been on the police wanted list for sundry attacks on police formations in the state.

Radio Nigeria gathered that the Commissioner of Police in the State, Mr. Aliyu Garba, had visited the station and ordered manhunt of the fleeing gunmen.
