The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abia State has urged political parties, their candidates and supporters to go about their campaigns in line with the laid down guidelines.

The Head of Voter Education and Publicity, INEC, in the state, Mrs. Rebecca Jim, made this known in an interview with Radio Nigeria while commenting on today’s official commencement of campaigns for the 2023 Presidential and National Assembly elections in line with the Commission’s timetable.

Mrs. Jim also urged print and electronic media organizations to give equal airtime to all parties and candidates.

She said the commission would ensure proper monitoring of the campaigns and assured residents of the area of INEC’s preparedness to conduct credible polls through several innovations it had put in place.

The INEC official urged people to use the campaign period to choose candidates that best would represent their yearnings if voted into power.

Radio Nigeria observes that aside from the 18 presidential candidates, in Abia State, there are 33 senatorial candidates and 81 candidates for the House of Representatives.
