The new General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division Enugu, Nigerian Army, Major General Umar Musa, has advised criminals in the region to surrender their arms or face the wrath of the military operation.
Major Gen. Musa made this known during a familiarization visit to the Imo State Governor, Chief Hope Uzodimma, at Government House in Owerri.
The GOC said he was in the state to charge officers and men of the Army to remain resolute and professional while discharging their duties.
He stated that the army would work hard to bring peace and remain apolitical during and after the 2023 general election.
Responding, the Imo State Governor, Chief Hope Uzodimma said the government would continue partnering and supporting the military towards achieving their mandate.
Chief Uzodimma urged the new GOC to study the topography of the region and come up with strategies that would be used to track banditry in the region.
The GOC was accompanied by the Commandant 34 Artillery Brigade Obinze in Imo State.
