YOUTHS FROM ODUMA ACHARA PROTEST ALLEGED MISAPPROPRIATION OF DEV. FUND

Some youths from Odum Achara, Aninri Local Government of Enugu State have raised an alarm over alleged misappropriation of five million naira community development fund by the leadership of the community.

The youths who raised the alarm during a peaceful protest along major roads in the area also demanded for fund to grade feeder roads in the area before the rain sets.

Last year, Enugu State Government disbursed five million naira each to autonomous communities in the State to enable them to embark on any project of their choice.

The youths alleged that the community’s share had been misappropriated while the community lacked basic needs.

Their Leader, Mr. Livinus Mba and another Community Leader Mr. Titus Egwu lamented that feeder roads in the area needed an urgent attention before commencement of rainy season.

They accused the President-General and Traditional ruler of the area of highhandedness.

Some leaders of the community who spoke with Radio Nigeria also alleged that the fund meant for the development of the community was hijacked by some people.

The Traditional ruler of the community, Igwe Murphy Chukwu and the President-General of the Town Union, Mr. Pius Ani when contacted described the allegation by the youths as baseless.

The youths carried placards saying “Return our community fund PG, “No time for bad leaders, we say no to false pretence”, among others.
