Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has urged National Youth Service Corps members posted to the area to deploy their skills and talents in the development of the state.

He gave the charge at the opening of batch A Stream Two orientation course at Eziama-Obaire in Nkwerre Local Government Area the state.

Governor Uzodimma described the NYSC as a symbol of national unity, noting that the scheme had since inception continued to foster peace, selfless service and promote nation building.

He advised the corps members to pay attention to the skill acquisition and entrepreneurship development programme put in place during the orientation to attain self reliance and financial independence.

The Governor, who was represented by the Acting Permanent Secretary Ministry of Youth and Sports, Mrs. Ngozi Duru, assured the corps members of adequate security,

He added that the state would reward corps members who distinguished themselves in the service.

The State Director of the NYSC, Mrs. Rachel Idaewor, noted that the corps members had demonstrated high level of discipline so far and urged them to imbibe the spirit of service and humility which the scheme stood for.

She commended the state government for its support towards ensuring that the orientation course is carried out in a conducive environment.

1,508 corps members took oath of allegiance administered by Justice Sabinus Opara of the state high court.
