POLICE PARADE OVER 100 SUSPECTED K/CRIMINALS IN ABIA

The Police Command in Abia State says it has arrested over 110 suspected criminals within the first quarter of the year 2024 in the state.

Parading some of the suspects at the state Police headquarters in Umuahia, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, represented by the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Mrs. Maureen Chinaka, said that the suspects were arrested at various locations through intelligence reports.

He stated that the command had recorded a milestone achievement in curtailing criminal activities, including kidnapping, robbery, vandalism of government property, child trafficking, rape and arson in the state.

Mr. Onwuemelie noted that the command had on the April 18, 2024 arrested a suspect, one Emmanuel Victor, who claimed to be a 500 level student at Abia State University Uturu for allegedly shooting and killing of one Emmanuel Uche another 500 level student of the University over cult clash in the Institution.

He pointed out that the command also arrested two suspects— Obumnaeke Ehileogu and Chibueze Ifechukwukwulu — for their alleged involvement in illegal oil bunkering at Obaja in Ugwunagbo Local Government Area of the state.

The Commissioner Police also paraded two suspected criminals who, according to the Police, specialized in snatching phones and other valuable items from people in Aba and its environs.

In an interview one of the suspects, Emmanuel Victor, who hailed from Imo state and claimed to be a 500 level student of Optometry at the Abia State University Uturu admitted killing his victim, Emmanuel Uche, following a cult clash in the institution.

Items reportedly recovered from the suspects included three locally made double barrel guns, three pistols, thirty seven live Catridges, four vehicles, four commercial tricycles, bags of liquid substance suspected to be crude oil, Police and Military camouflage bulletproof vests and bags of substance suspected to be cannabis sativa.
