VICTIMS OF FIRE DISASTER IN EZIMO UDENU LGA CRY OUT FOR HELP

A 92 year old woman, Mrs Benedette Ugwu and her family from Ama-Ogbelle Uno, Ezimo Community in Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu State have cried out for help after losing all their belongings to fire .

Mrs Ugwu and her 13 year old grandson, chidozie Odo said they escaped death when their four rooms and palour family house was gulped by the inferno.

Master Chidozie who spoke in igbo language said that the fire started shortly after the supply of high voltage electricity late in the night.

An eye witness, Mr Kenneth Enya reaffirmed the cause of the incident, noting that other villagers lost one electrical gadget or the other, saying that not even a pin was removed from the old woman’s house.

However, the son of Mr Benedette Ugwu who is a motorcyclist and bread winner of the family and Mr Ruben Okeze appealed for support from good spirited individuals.

When contacted, the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development and Community Relations, Mr Uche Ogbonna regretted that people felt reluctant to pick numbers of the fire service for emergency calls, noting that the agency had been repositioned to serve the public better.

Mr Ogbonna advised the public to always switch off electrical appliances in their homes and to call the following numbers for assistance when in danger, 08066079367, 07065409291 and 08036364251.
