PVC COLLECTION: EBONYI STATE GOVT DECLARES TWO DAY PUBLIC HOLIDAY

REPORTER: AMECHI ODO

Ebonyi State Government has declared Thursday 26th and Friday 27th January as public holidays to enable workers to go and collect their permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) across various registration areas in the state.

A statement by the State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Uchenna Orji, explained that the move was in consideration of INEC’s 29th January deadline for the collection of the PVC across the country.

The statement explained that the public holidays declaration would affect primary and post primary school teachers as they were expected to use the opportunity to get their cards as well.

Some civil servants, who reacted to the announcement, called on INEC to increase the number of staff issuing the cards, considering the number of people who would converge on various registration areas to collect their PVCs.
