OUR ROADS WILL STAND TEST OF TIME–SOLUDO

The Anambra State Government says it has awarded the dualizing of the road from Unizik temporary site to Y- Junction axis of Okpuno in Awka South Local Government Area to decongest traffic in the area.

Governor Chukwuma Soludo made this known during the commissioning the construction of the 14.48km of Unizik- Okpuno-Isuaniocha road in Awka.

Governor Soludo, while stressing that he understood the plights of the people of the area, said the road would have walkways for padestrians and expected to be completed in August, 2023.

Professor Soludo noted that the firm handling the project had already received 50% upfront payment, expressing optimism that the road, when completed, would give Awka territory that facelift and open more economic activities in the area.

The Governor further assured them that the roads would stand the test of the time.

The Commissioner for Works, Mr. Ifeanyi Okoma, noted that the governor had been desirous of making Awka attain that befitting capital territory it deserved since his inception as the governor of the state.

The Works Commissioner while explaining that due to the water logged nature of the soil in the area, about ten inches stone based and cement stabilization would be used.

Also the contractor handling the project, Mr. Roger Al-Sayegh, promised that the road would be completed in record time.

For his part, the Transition Committee Chairman of Awka South Local Government Area, Mr. ThankGod Anagor, commended the Governor for his kind gesture and promised support for his administration.

Other roads awarded included the 5.12km Abagana -Nimo road, expected to be completed in 8 months; and the 7.798 km Ugwuagba – Mgbuka Obosi road in Idemili North, expected to be delivered in 10 months.
