Ebonyi State Government has banned the use of motorcycle in all parts of the state between 7pm and 6am.

Governor David Umahi announced the ban at Stakeholders summit on 2023 National Census in Abakaliki.

He said decision was to check the activities of hoodlums, who use motorcycle in their operations.

The Govenor said that the state government would double the number of Ebubeagu personnel to combat the menace of those using motorcycles for crime.

Governor Umahi also banned political rally in markets and school premises, noting that any politician who intended to use the facilities must apply and pay some fees to the state government.

He noted that the fee would be used to clean the premises after usage, emphasising that collection of fees for political bill boards was not peculiar to the state.
