INDEPENDENCE: GOV UZODIMMA APPEALS FOR PEACE & UNITY

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has called on Nigerians to forge ahead and be more united than looking at those things that divide the citizens.

He stated this in a message to mark Nigeria’s 62nd Independence Anniversary Celebration held at Rear Admiral Ndubisi Kanu Square Owerri.

The colourful event was marked by parade and match past by various groups in the state.

Governor Uzodimma, who noted that although Nigeria is still struggling to gurantee the safety of all the citizens with economy and political instability, urged Nigerians not allow past mistakes to hold the country hostage.

He acknowledged the fact that Independence comes with equal rights and justice that offer equal opportunity for all irrespective of creed or clan but appealed to the citizens not to allow criminality to separate them as one Nigeria.

Governor Uzodimma advised all to shun ethnic and religious bigtory and greatly love one another, promote unity and development of Nigeria.

The Governor vowed to remain sensitive and committed to the task of restoring trust and safety of lives and property in the state.

He said under his watch, the Imo State would remain peaceful and would not allow activities of criminals or unknown gunmen to ruin the state.

The event featured cutting of National Cake and release of pigeons, which symbolised peace Love and freedom.
