62ND INDEPENDENCE: GOV SOLUDO LAUDS FOUNDING FATHERS, ENCOURAGES TAX PAYMENT

Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has called for concerted efforts from individuals towards building a prosperous Anambra State and Nigeria at large.

Professor Soludo made the call in his message to mark the 62nd Independence Day celebration, held at Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka.

According to Governor Soludo, Nigerians need to unite irrespective of their tribe and religious affiliations as the 2023 general election draws nearer.

There was an air of joy among students and voluntary organizations who participated in the programmes commemorating the Independence anniversary.

Being Governor Soludo’s first as the Executive Governor of the state, the atmosphere was serene and convival.

The overjoyed Governor maintained that Nigeria’s independence is worth celebrating as the most populous black nation on earth with all her diversities and large economy.

Governor Soludo observed that the labours of the founding founders, who laid the foundation in various ways for Nigeria to remain one indivisible entity, is worth celebrating.

He lauded the founding founders who were able to achieve much when agriculture was the mainstay without the discovery of oil.

The Governor reminisced that his past six months in office was committed to addressing the foundational issues relating to the five cardinal points of his administration in building a liveable smart megacity, despite the daunting challenges he encountered.

He restated his administration’s resolve to contend criminality in the state to a standstill even as he said that his administration would get rid of touting in the state to enable commuters pay their taxes.

On infrastructure, the Governor explained that his administration was keeping to its campaign promises, having inaugurated about 120km of roads within 6 months of assuming office.

He said all hands must be on deck in order to make Anambra State a liveable and prosperous megacity.

He encouraged residents of the state to pay their tax with a promise that every Kobo would be juduiciosly accounted for.

The Governor further called on political office seekers and citizens to work towards uplifting the unity and peace of the country as the 2023 general election drew nearer.
