The Sector Commander Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Abia State, Mr. Meshack Jatau, says the corps has deployed over four hundred of its regular Marshals to the road as part of efforts to ensure free flow of traffic during the Easter celebration.

The Sector Commander gave the hint while speaking with Radio Nigeria in Umuahia on the level of preparations put in place by the corps for the Easter celebration.

He noted that the officers would be been stationed at various major roads in the state to assist other traffic agencies and security personnel in ensuring that motorists observe all the necessary traffic rules and regulations while plying the road.

Mr. Jatau expressed concern about the increase in road crashes within the first quarter of the year and advised drivers to always avoid over speeding and ensure that they checked the manufacturing date of tyres they purchased before putting them to use.

The Sector Commander pointed out that the corps had recorded forty-three road crashes from January to March 2021 where thirty-one persons lost their lives and one hundred and twelve injured.

While wishing motorists a happy Easter celebration, Mr. Jatau advised them to be cautious on the road.
