FIRE GUTS NKWO NGWA MARKET IN ABA

Property and shops worth millions of naira have been destroyed by fire at Nkwo Ngwa market in Aba, Abia State.

The fire, which started around eight o’clock in the Saturday night razed over 20 shops and stalls in the market before it was put off by men of the fire service from Aba.

Speaking shortly after visiting the scene of the incident, the Commissioner of Police Abia State, Mr. Chris Ezike, said that the command would do all it could to unravel the cause of the fire pointing out that investigation into the incident had commenced.

Mr. Ezike, who described the incident as very unfortunate, noted that the Police would continue to ensure that adequate protection of lives and property of the people were guaranteed.

The Senior Special Adviser to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu on Security Matters, Retired Captain Awa Udensi while consoling the affected traders assured them that government would soon come to their aids.

Radio Nigeria gathered that no life was loss during the inferno.
