MONEY BAG POLITICS KILLING DEMOCRACY IN NIGERIA, CONCERNED POLITICIANS CRY OUT

The violence and win at all cost experience in the country will be checked if remuneration of public servants and public office holders are harmonized under the same salary structure.

This is the view of discussant on political watch, the Radio Nigeria Enugu Political Programme.

The acclaimed winner of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Governorship primary election, Mr. Bede Chukwuemezie, condemned what he termed money bag politics, warning that until corruption was reduced in electoral process in the country, political violence and desperation for power would continue to prevail in the country.

Contributing, the chairman of Youth Party in Enugu State, Mr. Obinna Oga, stated that the measure would go a long way to curb desperation for public offices by making them unattractive to selfish and irresponsible people.

A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Charles Ibe, maintained that government institutions, including INEC, must be supported to deliver credible elections.

Callers in the programme including the Chairman Zenith Labour Party, Ebonyi State, Mr. Sebastian and Nze Ferguson Ume called on government institutions and political leaders to shun money politics to enable the people make an informed choice during election.
