EBONYI STATE GOVERNMENT SIGNS $4 MILLION DEAL WITH CHINESE FIRM FOR SOLAR ENERGY GENERATION

Ebonyi State Government has entered into an agreement with a Chinese firm to establish a solar panel and inverter factory worth $4 million in the state.

Speaking at the event at Government House Abakaliki, the State Deputy Governor, Dr. KelechiIgwe, emphasized that it was aimed at bequeathing the state with enough energy for industrialization.

The agreement, which also involves Local Government Chairmen, targets massive manufacturing and installation of solar panel and inverter across the 13 Council areas of the state.

Dr. Igwe explained that the deal was in line with the vision of the present administration in Ebonyi state to make the state an alternative energy production hub in Nigeria.

He noted that apart from ensuring that the state realized its industrialization policy, the factory would also make the state a net exporter of solar panel and other accessories to other parts of Africa.

The State Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, Mr. Cletus Ofoke, noted that the deal was an outcome of investment drive embarked on by Governor David Umahi and expressed the hope that the production of solar panel would boost the state’s Gross Domestic Product.

A representative of the firm, Mr. Jack Chen, described the investment agreement as an honour and promised that EbonyiState would in no distant time become the power house of the nation.

The Secretary to the State Government, Dr. HyginusNwokwu, led some government functionaries, including the 13 Local Government Chairmen, to sign on behalf of Ebonyi State government while Mr. Chen signed on behalf of the Energy firm.
