NWIFURU AWARDS ADDITIONAL N10,000 TO EBONYI WORKERS

Ebonyi State Governor, Chief Francis Nwifuru has added another N10,000.00 bonus to the salaries of state workers.

This was one of the pronouncements he made during the 2024 Workers’ Day celebration at Per-Ngele Oruta Township Stadium, Abakaliki.

Addressing some of the demands of the workers, Governor Nwifuru announced the recruitment of 1,000 teachers in addition to 39 special secondary schools with 21 classrooms for empowerment of graduates as well as pronouncement of N5,000.00 for every state worker to take launch for the day.

Governor Nwifuru gave an assurance that he would implement the outcome of the new minimum wage.

The Ebonyi State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Ogugua Egwu, applauded Governor Nwifuru for the numerous packages he outlined for workers since the inception of his government and asked for periodic interface with the organized Labour to enable him feel the plights of workers.

The Head of service in Ebonyi State, Dr. Rita-Mary Okoro, pleaded with the Governor to accomplish the item “E” of the People’s Charter of needs, which is “Extension of Housing estate for workers.

At the event, the embattled ASUU Chairman of EBSU, Prof. Ikechukwu Igwenyi, was advised to make an official complaint to achieve justice.
