ABIA STATE PIPELINE EXPLOSION: DEATH TOLL RISES TO 24 AS APC SYMPATHISES WITH FAMILIES OF THE VICTIMS

Following the fire explosion that occurred in two villages in Osisioma Local Government Area of Abia state, the official death toll has risen to 24.

The Commissioner of Police Abia State, Mr. Anthony Ogbizi, made this known while addressing newsmen shortly after visiting the scene of the incidents.

Mr. Ogbizi stated that most of the injured victims that were taken to hospitals are responding to treatments.

He noted that the command was still compiling list of both the dead and the injured victims to ascertain the true figure of people involved in the explosion.

On the alleged information that some military personnel were involved in the explosion, Mr.Ogbizi said that there has not been any confirmation of such information, describing it as baseless and without proof.

Meanwhile, the All Progressive Congress (APC)in Abia State has expressed deep sympathy to the families of the victims of the oil pipeline explosion.

Speaking with Radio Nigeria in Umuahia, the Chairman of the Party in the state, Chief Donatus Nwamkpa, expressed shock over the incidents and described it as very unfortunate,saying that APC as one big family would continue to share in the grief with the families of the dead and injured victims.

Chief Nwamkpa while praying for the repose of the souls of the departed victims called on government at all levels to come to the aids of the injured ones.
