Reporter : UCHE NDEKE

The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 13, Ukpo, Anambra State, Mr. Mukaddas Garba, has re-affirmed that all legitimately processed and existing vehicle tinted glass permits issued by the Nigeria Police Force within the zone stands valid.

The AIG made this known in a statement made available to journalists by the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, Princess Nkeiruka Nwode.

According to the statement, the order is in line with the directives of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Usman Baba, on SPY number plates and tinted permit.

The statement explains that the suspension of new issuance of tinted permits for vehicle owners, which is an ephemeral measure in strengthening internal security, will remain active pending the release of a new protocol that will checkmate further issuance.

AIG also directs Commissioners of Police in Anambra and Enugu States to give full effect to the directives and to ensure that all SPY number plates currently in use by unauthorized users within the Zone are retrieved with immediate effect.

He also cautions that while discharging these assignments, officers must ensure the rights and privileges of citizens are respected in line with the laws of the land and in accordance with international best practices and standards.

The statement enjoins residents of Anambra and Enugu States to cooperate with the police in this regard and to report any infringement on their rights through the zonal emergency number: 08022528055.
