Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State says his administration is open to any meaningful dialogue that will help to bring lasting peace in the state.

In a message to mark the 2021 “Democracy Day” in Owerri, the Governor expressed regret that insecurity had led to loss of lives and property in the area and called on aggrieved individuals to sheath their sword.

Governor Uzodimma expressed worry that the violence witnessed in the state posed threat to its economy.

He noted that youths were fast losing the few jobs they had while investments were being jeopardized.

The Governor pledged to continue to apply the resources of the state to the benefit of the people.

The Governor gave an assurance that work would continued on the dualization of Owerri-Okiwe and Owerri Orlu roads.

Governor Uzodimma felicitated with the people on the democracy day celebration.

He added that democracy was the best form of government as it created space for dialogue and peaceful resolution of issues.

Radio Nigeria gathered that the day was observed in a low key in the state with heavy presence of security personnel mounting road blocks in Owerri and some other parts of the state to forestall further breach of peace.
