ABIA STATE GOVT REVIEWS CURFEW DURATION

Some residents of Umuahia have reacted to the recent time adjustment of the existing curfew imposed by the Abia State Government on some parts of the state.

They made their feelings known while speaking with Radio Nigeria on the development.

Some of them, including Chief Leo Uzodimma, expressed gratitude to the government for the time adjustment, pointing out that most of the businesses which were affected earlier, would now come back to life.

Chief Uzodimma said the adjustment would serve as relief to some people, who had past through untold hardship as a result of the curfew.

He urged the state government to put more efforts in improving security of the state to ensure the total relaxation of the curfew.

A commercial tricycle operator, Mr. Henry Onyejuruwa, noted that the adjustment would enhance their business and stop the alleged harassments and extortions they passed through in the hands of security agents at night and called for improved security of life and property in the state.

The Abia State Government had in a statement, reviewed the existing curfew in Aba and Umuahia to commence from 10pm to 6am while that of Ohafia, Bende, Umunneochi and Arochukwu will start from 8pm to 6am, effective from Friday 18th June, 2021.
