DISCIPLINARY ACTION AWAITS ANY POLICE OFFICER CAUGHT IN THE CRIME OF EXTORTION

Enugu State Police Command has warned that disciplinary action will be taken against any officer caught extorting money from motorists.

The warning is contained in a statement by the Police in Enugu.

The Commissioner of Police in the State, Mr. Suleiman Balarabe gave the warning in a statement in Enugu while reacting to the arrest of some personnel including an Assistant Superintendent of Police who were allegedly caught in the dubious act within the metropolis.

Mr. Balarabe insisted that any supervising officer who allowed such in his beat would be queried while the rank and file would be tried accordingly.

According to him, the Assistant Superintendent of Police and leader of the team caught in the act had been queried while the team members were facing orderly room trial.

The Commissioner urged motorists and tricycle operators not to succumb to the pressure of giving money to the security operatives but report promptly for necessary action.
