The need for more pragmatic approach to the fight against cancer has been advocated.
The Managing Director, Ada Achi Cultural Pagent, Mr. Ibuchim Ejike, made this known during a sensitization tour to enlighten some women to the dangers of cancer, in Achi, Oji River Local Government Area, of Enugu State.
The Ada Achi Cultural Pageant is an organization that works towards the promotions and preservation of the cultural heritage of Achi community in Oji River Local Government Area of Enugu state.
The managing Director of the organization, Mr. Ibuchim Ejike, explained that he was motivated to create cancer awareness among the women due to the high prevalence of the disease in recent times.
Delivering a health talk on the disease, a medical doctor and Executive Director, Agbaruo Ngene Foundation, Dr. Macginger Ibeneme, decried the high prevalence of cancer among women and urged them to live healthy lifestyles to reduce the level of its occurrence.
In an interview, one of the speakers and General Manager, Coal City FM, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Enugu, Mrs. Joy Obitulata, maintained that media had tremendous roles to play in the fight against cancer.
In their separate remarks, the president, Catholic women Organization, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Mkpokolo, Achi, Mrs. Omica Eba, and the wife of the Arch deacon, Anglican Communion, Mrs. Rose Odezue, expressed gratitude to the organizers of the event.
They promised to extend the message to other women in the area.
The event was jointly organized by Ada Achi cultural pageant, Agbanna Ngene foundation, Harriet Newlife Foundation and Coal City FM.
