GOV UZODINMA, DEPUTY, HEALTH WORKERS, OTHERS TAKE COVID-19 VACCINE

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has received the first jab of COVID-19 vaccine with a call on residents of the state to dismiss any rumour that the vaccine is harmful.

The Governor, who took the shot alongside his wife Chioma, his Deputy Professor Placid Njoku and other top government officials during the commencement of the exercise in Owerri, expressed delight that a vaccine had been developed to tackle the dreaded virus.

He said the AstraZeneca vaccine had been confirmed safe and appealed to residents of the state to submit themselves to be administered the vaccine.

Governor Uzodimma commended the Federal Government for ensuring the arrival of the vaccine, noting that Imo State would take advantage of the opportunity to fight the pandemic.

The Representative of the World Health Organisation (WHO) in Imo State, Dr. Sebastine Okwu, commended the state for its efforts in fighting COVID-19 and promised to assist in sensitizing rural dwellers to the benefit from the gesture.

Strategic leaders, frontline health workers and other persons, who are in constant touch with the public, are slated to benefit from the first phase of the exercise.
