POLICE IN ANAMBRA NAB ABOUT ONE HUNDRED PERSONS FOR VARIOUS CRIMES

police3About one hundred persons suspected to be armed robbers, cultists and child traffickers have been paraded by the Police in Anambra State. The Commissioner of Police in the State, Mr. Garba Umar stated this while briefing newsmen at the Police headquarters in Awka.

He pointed out that a female suspect was arrested alongside a twenty-six year old man in Nnewi for allegedly selling her two months old baby for two hundred and fifty thousand naira. Mr. Umar remarked that a four-man child trafficking syndicate was on the twenty eight of last month arrested for selling a ten year old boy for three hundred thousand naira.

According to Mr. Umar, various armed robbery attempts were foiled following distress calls since the twenty-sixth of last month, which also led to the arrest of fifteen suspects. Mr. Umar announced that the forty suspected Cultists arrested with dangerous arms were still being investigated,adding that they would be arraigned as soon as the investigation was completed.
