Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has called on political leaders to strive to enhance development in all the sectors and zones of the nation. Owelle Okorocha made the call in Owerri while speaking on the challenges confronting the nation.
According to the Governor, agitations by the Pro- Biafran group and the consequent reaction from the Arewa youths were necessitated by negligence from past political leaders which is being addressed by the Federal Government to enhance peaceful co-existence of all Nigerians.
He said the sit at home order by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and the members of the Movement for the Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, was a mark of respect to their past heroes rather than disobedience to the Federal Government. The Governor warned all agitating groups against inciting statements of secession as it was capable of truncating the peace and unity enjoyed in the country.
Governor Okorocha further appealed to the youths to rekindle their confidence in the present leaders of the nation as efforts were being intensified to create opportunities for self empowerment among the youths. The Imo State Governor noted that the people of the Southeast would continue to remain peaceful and strive to contribute to the development of the nation.
He therefore called for speedy reconciliation of bridges of friendship among all agitating groups to enhance mutual co-existence in the country.
