ANAMBRA LAWMAKERS LAMENT ON POOR STATE OF SOME MEDICAL FACILITIES

Anambra-State-House-of-AssemblyThe Anambra State House of Assembly has called on the State Government to rehabilitate and equip the Ukpor and Nando General Hospitals for efficient healthcare service delivery. The member representing Nnewi South One Constituency Mr. Kingsley Iruba and the member representing Anambra East Constituency, Mr. Obunna Emenaka made the call in a motion during the plenary session of the House in Awka. They explained that the hospitals lacked functional theatres, labour rooms, and maternity wards.

Mr. Iruba  who regretted that the Ukpor General Hospital which  was built and handed over by the community to the state government for quality healthcare of the people, lacked adequate manpower.

On Nando General Hospital, Mr. Emenaka observed that the situation of the facility had subjected the people of the area to untold hardship. Some of the lawmakers who contributed to the motion, agreed on the need for the State Government through the Ministry of Health to embark on the rehabilitation and equipping of the hospitals.

Also, the Speaker of the House, Mrs. Rita Maduagwu expressed worry that many lives had been lost as a result of poor medical care in the State.
