INEC DISTRIBUTES SENSITIVE MATERIALS AHEAD OF MARCH 27 ABA NORTH & SOUTH FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY POLL

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abia State has commenced the distribution of sensitive materials for the Saturday March 27, 2021 bye-election for Aba North and South Federal Constituency.

Speaking during the distribution of the materials at the Central Bank of Nigeria premises in Umuahia, the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner. Abia State, Dr. Joseph Iloh, said that the materials were kept at CBN office to ensure adequate safety.

Dr. Ilo assured the electorate that the Commission was committed towards providing peaceful, free, fair and credible election to the people of Aba North and South Federal Constituency.

He stated that voting would commence by 8 o’clock in the morning on the election day and urged the electorate to feel free and come out enmass to cast their votes.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner warned those that might be planning to cause crisis during the bye-election to have a rethink, noting that security personnel had been stationed to deal decisively with anyone caught in the act.

He advised political parties contesting the forthcoming bye-election to play the game according to the laid down rules and regulations.

Meanwhile, the sensitive materials were later moved to the affected local government areas in Aba by heavily armed security personnel
