ENGAGE IN CONTRUCTIVE CRITICISM AGAINST GOVERNMENT IN POWER – RADIO GUESTS TELL OPPOSTION PARTIES

Opposition parties must form habit of creating a shadow cabinet that provides a better alternative to some of the policies of the ruling party.

This was the consensus of guests on Political Watch, a Radio Nigeria Enugu Zonal Network Political Programme.

A human rights activist, Dr. Tony Ngene advised opposition parties to make nationalism their watch word as they constructively engaged the party in government.

Contributing, a legal practitioner and Enugu based politician, Chief Maxi Okwu emphasised the need for the opposition to be relentless in bringing to the public domain some anti people’s policies of the government.

Another lawyer and politician, Prince Charles Ibeh was of the view that the responsibility of opposition must not be left to the parties alone but should involve coalition of the media and the civil society.

A Psychologist and Political Scientist, Mr. Emeka Asogwa condemned the gale of defection, especially by members of the opposition, who switched allegiance to the ruling party for selfish interest.

Callers in the programme implored the opposition to arise to their responsibilities to ensure that the nation democracy was protected.
