APC WINS ISIALA MBANO-OKIGWE-ONUIMO RERUN FED CONSTITUENCY ELECTION

Princess Miriam Onuoha of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has won the re-run election for Isiala Mbano, Okigwe and Onuimo Federal Constituency of Imo State conducted yesterday (Saturday) by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC).

She polled a total of twenty-three thousand, six hundred and ninety votes to defeat her closest opponent, Mr. Obinna Onwubuariri, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who scored ten thousand and ten votes.

The Returning Officer for the election, Professor Frank Collins, from Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, said the APC candidate having polled majority of valid votes cast had emerged winner of the election.

Princess Onuoha had challenged the election of Mr. Onwubuariri in the court on alleged electoral misconduct, which led to the nullification of the election.

In the meantime, results for the supplementary elections for Orsu, Orlu and Oru East Federal Constituency and that of Njaba State constituency are still being awaited.
