ABIA RERUN ELECTION: A SMOOTH SAIL

The re-run election held Saturday in Arochukwu and Aba South Constituencies were very peaceful.

At Ndiegoro Hall in Aba South, political party agents were seen at various polling units discussing about the exercise.

There were heavy presence of security personnel there too.

At Ihe-Orji Secondary School, people were seen at the polling units exercising their franchise.

Speaking with Radio Nigeria, a resident of the community, Mr. Ikechi Mgboji, commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for early arrival of materials but expressed worry over the slow pace of the voting process.

At Arochukwu, the story was the same as it was a hitchfree exercise.

Meanwhile, the Resident Electoral Commissioner of INEC in Abia State, Dr. Joseph Iloh, has expressed satisfaction with the rerun elections in Aba South and Arochukwu Constituencies.

Dr. Ilo made this known while speaking with Radio Nigeria on rerun election in Umuahia.

According to the the Resident Electoral Commissioner, voters came out in their numbers to exercise their civic responsibilities and commended security agencies for ensuring adequate protection of people during the exercise.

He noted that the election was conducted in twenty-five polling units in the two local government areas following the Appeal Court verdict that ordered for a rerun in the areas.

Dr. Iloh stated that the results of the election would be announced at the collation centers.
