UMAHI APPROVES PAYMENT OF LG CHAIRMEN, COUNCILLORS SEVERANCE ALLOWANCE

Ebonyi State Government has approved the payment of severance allowances to all past Local Government Chairmen, their Vice and Councillors that served since the inception of the present administration.

Governor David Umahi announced this at a training programme for the immediate Past and Present Local Government Chairmen and their Vice at Christian Ecumenical Centre Abakaliki.

Governor Umahi directed that the computation of the package be concluded before the end of this month, noting that payment would commence immediately.

He however charged political office holders to explore career outside politics, emphasising that politics was not a vocation.

“My EXCO members will also go there, because I am also planning an exit package for them.

“I don’t want to see anybody that worked with me from 2015 to still be looking for what to eat after my exit.

“I have directed that all the severance allowances of past councillors, chairmen and vice chairmen should be processed, and before the end of this month, they will be paid, from 2015,” he said.

Governor Umahi added that the state government would henceforth prioritize the training of the people of the state in modern agricultural techniques and charged the political office holders to take the training seriously.
