THREE DIE OF COVID-19 AS COMMISSIONER LAMENTS PRESENCE OF DELTA VARIANT IN IMO

The Imo State Government says it has recorded three deaths arising from complications of COVID-19 pandemic within the last three months.
The State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Bartholomew Okorochukwu, made this known while briefing journalists in Owerri.
He explained that many persons had however recovered from the disease while more than twenty were presently kept at various isolation centres in the state.
Dr. Okorochukwu noted that there were signs that the delta variant of the disease was in the state and urged residents to get vaccinated to reduce the burden of COVID-19.
The Commissioner said the government had intensified campaign against the spread of COVID-19 and called on the people to always adhere to all preventive protocol.
He used the forum to dispel rumour making the rounds in the state that thirty-seven persons died as a result of a strange disease in Mbieri, Mbaitoli Local Government Area of the state noting that investigations revealed that the news was fake.
