SOLUDO REDUCES TRANSPORTERS TAX IN ANAMBRA

Anambra State Government has approved a comprehensive tax
reduction payment for commercial transport operators in the area.

Governor Chukwuma Soludo, who made this known while addressing commercial transport operators at the Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre Awka, stressed that his administration would run a progressive system of tax through technological collections that is multiple tax free.

Governor Soludo pointed out that the comprehensive tax reformation through deployment of technology was part of measures to stop touts from siphoning government revenue.

The Governor explained that his administration was aware and determined to ease their pain by declaring state of emergency on roads, while acknowledging that the money generated from taxation was not enough to provide all the needed infrastructure to the citizenry.

Professor Soludo further agreed unanimously with the transporters for a weekly payment while reiterating that
wheelbarrow pushers, hawkers and vulcanizer must be excluded from tax.

Earlier, in a speech the Chairman, Anambra State Internal Revenue Service, Mr. Richard Maduebo, expressed confidence in the ability of the Governor to address the plight of the transporters, saying that the Soludo led administration was determined to make Anambra State, liveable and prosperous mega homeland .

Radio Nigeria gathered that the tax payment for tricycle operators was reduced to #2,500 weekly, mini truck operators was significantly reduced to #3000 per week while commercial motorcycle (Okada) riders had theirs reduced to #1000 a week, among others.
