SOLUDO INAUGURATES 3.2KM OKPUNOEZE URUAGU ROAD, ASSURES RESIDENTS OF MORE INFRASTRUCTURE

Anambra State Government has inaugurated the 3.2kilometer Okpunoeze-Uruagu Nnewi Road in Nnewi North Local Government Area.

On the occasion, Governor Chukwuma Soludo remarked that Nnewi, globally known as one of the biggest commercial hubs in West Africa and nicknamed the Japan of the continent, deserved befitting infrastructural facilities.

The Governor hinted on a master plan to dualize the road leading from Nnewi to Awka, the state capital through Nnobi Adazi and Agulu.

Governor Soludo, who said that plans were underway to construct the Nnewi-Ozubulu-Okija expressway, assured the people that most ongoing projects would be completed and inaugurated in record time with quality that could last a minimum of 20 years.

In a bid to maintain the longevity of the roads, Governor Soludo warned traders and residents against displaying their wares on the tarred roads and blockage of water channels with refuse.

The Governor reiterated call for collective effort from the private sector and senators representing Anambra in different senatorial districts to draw the attention of the Federal Government to the deplorable condition of federal roads in their various constituencies for the overall development of the area.

On the provision of pipe borne water, the Governor further revealed that the Anambra Water Scheme were simultaneously undergoing test-run in Awka, Agulu, Onitsha, and their environs as well as Otuocha, Awkuzu while Nnewi water scheme would soon come on stream.

Earlier, the Transition Committee Chairman of Nnewi North Local Government, Mr. Chris Obiora, applauded the Governor whom he said had done incredibly well in providing good road network for the people of Okpunueze and environs.

Also, the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Mr. Christian Udechukwu, expressed profound gratitude to the Governor for constructing the road, noting that it was abandoned by successive administrations in the state.

Highpoint of the event was the cutting of tape by the representatives of inhabitants of the area, a physically challenged person assisted by some clergymen.

The Governor later stopped over and inspected the level of work at the Awka Township Stadium and the ongoing construction of Government House and Governor’s Lodge.
