POLICE VOW TO APPREHEND THOSE BEHIND ATTEMPTED KILLING OF ENUGU STATE APC CHAIRMAN

The Police Command has promised to fish out the perpetrators of alleged attempt on the life of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman in Enugu, Dr. Ben Nwoye.

The incident, which occurred at about two o’clock Friday morning at his Independence Layout residence, left one of his orderlies, Mr. Gerald Eke, with a bullet wound on the head.

Speaking with journalists shortly after the incident, Dr. Nwoye explained that he was in his house when unidentified number of assassins after exchanging bullets with security men in his compound, stole the gun belonging to one of the police Sergeants and injured others.

“It was God that saved my life, life of my aides, life of my police orderly; I heard banging on my door, entrance gate’ within a few minutes thereafter, I started hearing gunshots and it lasted like forever,” he said.

Dr. Nwoye explained that he had to call the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mohammed Damallam, who directed team of security operatives to his residence to provide security.

Our correspondent reports that the injured police Sergeant is currently receiving treatment at one of the federal hospitals in Enugu.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in the State, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, said the police had started investigation on the matter with a view to fishing out the perpetrators.

Also, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Danmallam, had visited Dr. Nwoye in his residence,assuring him that those that carried out the dastardly act would be fished out and prosecuted.
