POLICE GUN DOWN THREE SUSPECTED CRIMINALS, ARREST FIVE OTHERS IN EBONYI

Police in a joint operation with other security agencies have shot dead three suspected hoodlums and arrested five others at a forest in Omini community, Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Joshua Ukandu, explained that security operatives working on a credible information stormed the hideout of the hoodlums suspected to be behind a recent attack that claimed the lives of five policemen at a check point in Abakaliki.

“The hoodlums on sighting the operatives opened fire on them, in the ensuing gun duel three members of the proscribed group were neutralized, five were arrested while others escaped,” it stated.

The statement further noted that three Sienna mini van snatched from different individuals and used by the hoodlums to perpetrate heinous crimes were recovered at the camp.

Also recovered were one AK47 rifle with 16 rounds of live ammunition, a bag containing 2,000 rounds of live ammunition, a motor cycle and phones.
