A divisional police headquarters in Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State has been set ablaze by yet to be identified hoodlums.

The incident is coming a few months after the station was renovated following a similar attack, which led to razing of the facility during the #EndSARS protest.

In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Imo State Command, Mr. Orlando Ikeokwu, said the armed arsonists invaded the police station at about seven o’clock in the evening and started shooting sporadically.

According to him, the officers on duty engaged them in a gun duel which resulted in a police woman sustaining gunshot injury.

The statement added that the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Nasiru Mohammed, had deployed all tactical teams of the command to apprehend the fleeing hoodlums.

Recall that a police division in Obowo Local Government Area of the state was attacked on February 2, 2021 by unknown gunmen which took the life of two policemen and left three injured.
