POLICE ARREST 8 KIDNAP SUSPECTS IN ABIA

The Police Command in Abia State has arrested eight suspected kidnappers and two armed robbers in the state.

Parading the suspects at the Police headquarters in Umuahia, the Commissioner of Police, Mrs. Janet Agbede, said that the men were arrested at various locations in the state.

She noted the suspects were apprehened by the command in collaboration with the Inspector General of Police IRT operatives on Operation Restore Peace mission in the state.

Mrs. Agbede pointed out that the suspects specialized in not only kidnapping, killing victims and receiving ransom from their victims families but also dispose their victims of their belongings.

She advised youths who see crime as a way to make a living to desist from such, noting that security agents were ever ready to arrest and prosecute them.

In an interview, one of the suspects Chibuike Iheoma, confessed being a kidnapper saying that he was led into the evil act by a friend.

Items allegedly recovered from the suspects included one AK47 rifle, one pump action gun, one locally made double barrel gun, some live ammunition, a computer set, a TV set, one Volkswagen Jetta and some cash.
